Integration with Smart Devices for Automated Control
VitoNode enables seamless integration into existing smart devices and building automation systems, not only to capture environmental data but also to actively respond to it. When deviations occur, the system automatically controls ventilation, lighting, or air purifiers, helping to stabilize the indoor climate—especially in sensitive areas such as care rooms. This reduces the burden on staff, improves response times, and creates more freedom for essential tasks like care and support – all without requiring structural modifications.
Setup process from order to activation
There are various versions with different sensor combinations that can be selected according to your needs. Regardless of the number of sensors, all versions offer the same core functions and features.
After receiving the device and reading the device ID (required for software activation), the subscription process can begin. First, the appropriate subscription type is selected based on the number of devices and users. Then, relevant device information such as location and device type is entered into the software. Finally, the administrator assigns access rights for each user.
After activation in the software, the device is assigned to a specific location – this can be precisely defined if needed, e.g., room, floor, or building section. Additionally, you define who is allowed to access the data collected by the device and what level of permission they have – from view-only access to full management rights.
The device should be positioned within the area where environmental data is to be recorded. Ideally, it should be placed in a way that avoids major disruptions or measurement distortions. It should be in direct contact with the environment and not inside a closed compartment or near sources like heaters.
Once connected to power, VitoNode automatically begins the continuous collection and wireless transmission of all environmental data. Real-time and historical data are stored centrally.
In the user interface, you can view the collected data from individual devices both in real time and as a trend over time. You also have access to data analysis and the assessment of current environmental factors in relation to potential health risks. Depending on the device’s placement and the recorded data, corresponding alerts can be activated. You have the choice: either use VitoNode’s predefined standard modes or define custom threshold values according to your requirements.
Based on VitoNode’s analysis, optimization of environmental factors can be done—depending on whether your building devices are networked—either automatically via integration with control systems or manually based on VitoNode’s recommendations. For automatic control, connection to available systems can be made directly through the user interface or via VitoNode’s API.

VitoNode devices are available in two variants. VitoNode Core includes a total of ten sensors – eight for measuring air quality and two for detecting light and noise. VitoNode AirSense focuses on the eight air quality sensors and does not include light and noise sensors. Regardless of the sensor configuration, both variants offer the same full software functionality for analysis and optimization.

With the VitoNode software, you always have control over your building’s indoor air quality – based on continuously collected measurements from your VitoNode devices. Whether it’s individual rooms, entire floors, or multiple locations: all relevant data is centrally gathered and then analyzed – including visualizations, alerts, and algorithmic evaluations. Optimization also takes place directly through the software – either via specific improvement suggestions or, if desired, even through the automatic control of your connected devices via the VitoNode device, easily and without detours.
